26 years culinary history
For over 26 years, Koxyli Restaurant has been writing its own culinary story in Ithaca. Situated at the front line of Vathy’s harbor, it is not just a taverna—it’s a meeting point for locals and visitors alike, a place where flavor becomes memory.
A family business built on deep roots, values, and genuine passion. Lakis, the heart and soul of the restaurant, welcomes everyone with a smile, stories, and a love for good food. Beside him is Fotini, the quiet hero of the kitchen, who cooks using authentic recipes passed down from Ithaca’s grandmothers—flavors that are real and true. And their son Giannis brings fresh energy, ensuring traditions are carried forward with a modern touch.
The cuisine is an ode to Greek and local Ithacan gastronomy:
-
Handmade pies, such as sweet onion pie, rich meat pie, and velvety pastitsio.
-
Grilled-to-order meats, tasty and perfectly cooked.
-
Fresh seafood, straight from the fishing boat to your plate—lobsters, octopus, sardines, red mullet, and catch of the day.
-
Slow-cooked dishes, from casseroles and oven-bakes like moussaka, stuffed vegetables, and lamb with orzo—flavors that awaken childhood memories.
-
Meze platters, perfect for sharing with friends over ouzo or local wine, as the sun sets over Ithaca’s harbor.
The tables by the sea, shaded by white umbrellas, with views of the harbor and Ithaca’s hills, offer one of the most romantic and authentic dining experiences on the island. At night, with the lights reflected on the water, Koxyli becomes magical.
Here, hospitality is not just a word—it’s a way of life. You come as a guest and leave as a friend.
