Some taverns are discovered by the irresistible aroma of meat roasting on the spit, the sound of lively conversations around the table, and the guests who return year after year. Nikos Tavern is one of them.
A family-run restaurant since 1985, Nikos Tavern has been serving traditional Greek cuisine prepared with care, using local ingredients and recipes that have been passed down through the years.
Every day, whole lamb is slow-roasted on the spit, while the restaurant’s pork kontosouvli has become a signature favourite. The daily menu also features a selection of homemade classics, including moussaka, beef stifado, pastitsio, and, whenever the catch allows, traditional kakavia fish soup.
The flavours of Ithaca are reflected in every meal. Fresh fish and seafood are sourced from local fishermen, dishes are prepared with the family’s own extra virgin olive oil, freshly baked Ithacan bread accompanies every table, and local wines—including the distinctive Mavro from Perachori—offer the perfect pairing.
Guests will also find a selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, ensuring there is something for every preference.
Combining warm family hospitality with authentic Greek flavours, Nikos Tavern continues to welcome locals and visitors alike, offering a relaxed dining experience that has been part of Ithaca’s culinary tradition for more than four decades.
